About this trip
A school trip to Salamanca with host families is an eight-day programme in Castilla y León for secondary school groups, organised in Spain by Viajes CumLaude. We have run school tours from our Barcelona office since 1996, and your group works with a named trip manager here and a 24-hour duty phone for the whole stay.
Salamanca is the base throughout. Two full days cover the city: the Plaza Mayor, the Casa de las Conchas, the university, the two cathedrals, the Roman bridge and the Huerto de Calixto y Melibea on one; Casa Lis, the Scala Coeli tower, the Palacio de Monterrey, the Mercado Central and the Tormes riverbank on the other.
Four day trips open out the region: the walls and cathedral of Ávila, the Alcázar and aqueduct of Segovia, the cathedral and Paseo del Espolón in Burgos, and a bull-breeding farm at Horcajo Medianero with a capea demonstration. The group arrives and leaves through Madrid, with a guided visit to the centre when the flight times allow it.

This programme runs over eight days with host families: two full days in Salamanca and four day trips to Ávila, Segovia, Burgos and Horcajo Medianero, arriving and leaving through Madrid. We also run a four-day version based in Salamanca alone.
Is Salamanca a good base for a longer school trip?
It is compact enough to be crossed on foot and central enough to reach Ávila, Segovia, Burgos and Madrid as day trips, so the group unpacks once and still sees four other cities. Students stay with host families for the whole eight days and return to them every evening.
